Born in 1999, Abraham “Abra” Pingol is the son of visual artist Aljo Pingol and housewife Katheryn Pingol. Following in his father’s artistic footsteps, Abra graduated from the University of Santo Tomas in 2022 with a degree from the College of Fine Arts and Design. His academic journey was marked by distinction, graduating Cum Laude and earning the prestigious Thesis Award of Excellence for his project. During his senior high year, his artistic talent was first showcased in the “Through the Window” group exhibit, highlighting his emerging presence in the art scene.
Abra’s art is characterized by the depiction of large, expressive eyes, which he considers the windows to the soul. This distinctive feature is central to his exploration of the deep interaction and connection between humans and animals, reflecting his profound love for the natural world and creation, as he also views his artistic abilities as a God-given talent. Through his work, Abra aims to create a subjective connection between the viewer and the artwork, inviting contemplation and emotional engagement. His pieces evoke empathy and foster a deeper appreciation for the creatures that share our world, establishing Abra Pingol as one of the compelling new voices in contemporary art.
