Richard Buxani is born of a Filipina mother and an Indian Father. He was raised in Manila where he received a catholic education from pre-school to college. Buxani studied Architecture at the College of Architecture and Fine Arts (CAFA), University of Santo Tomas where he unknowingly had his first influences and lessons in art.
His works are not about control or refinement, but of un-staged rawness and viciousness. He wants something vibrant or explosive, something that conveys feelings or a state of mind, evoking thoughts into picture. The pieces could be very limited in color or totally full of it. It could be very restrained and conservative one time, and its total opposite the next. He never follows anything other than his instinct to act and react, and he only appeals to a good sense of balance and composition in the spontaneity of what he does. It mirrors the images that Buxani concocts inside his mind when he takes the time to paint.
