Amidst Lucid Foliage

Ralph Villaluz’ works for “Amidst Lucid Foliage” are atmospheric, layered, and intriguing -- quietly celebrating the natural world. The paintings exude a wistful mood through the soft shadows and foliage. An ethereal tone is created through combinations of the elements moving in and out of focus. More akin to poetry than science, Villaluz’ natural subjects capture the fleeting notion of association to the mysterious beyond— a momentary beauty that cannot be conquered.

Inherent in the artist’s body of work is the reality of loss and hope for new life that comes with changing seasons. Villaluz’ oeuvre reflects a parallel truth about his own lived experiences; that life is in continuous progression and the only constant element is change. His art practice leans into the importance of awareness and presence over perfection. “Amidst Lucid Foliage” is Ralph Villaluz’ interpretation of solace found in nature—a refuge to the entangled paradox of agony and beauty that comes with being human.

Ralph Villaluz received his Fine Arts - Advertising degree from the Far Eastern University and his Painting degree from the University of the Philippines, Diliman. He is a member of 1 San Mateo Artist Guild and International Watercolor Society since 2017.

In pursuance of art as a lifelong journey, Ralph Villaluz creates artworks using various media and concepts bound for progression and innovation. As a visual artist, his ideas are bonded and derived from various scenes from nature, interpreted to abstract form and expressive textures to convey emotions.
