For his latest exhibition, visual artist Francis Evangelista interprets his ruminations on nature and man and how its relationship transcends perceptual understanding. Illustrating his abstracted renditions of forestry through almost primal permutations through various shapes, forms, and color. Evangelista’s work is a reminder to recalibrate our understanding of the world we inhabit, for it is not merely just a backdrop against which life unfolds, but a vibrant and sentient entity where realities converge.
“When the Forest Sings” is an in depth look into role of nature in art as visual interludes in a world of commotion and tumult. The seemingly operatic compositions of towering trees and evergreens elicit an almost close to the touch sensation of solace and respite. The lush, vibrant colors, and dynamic formulations breathe life and light that builds a complex exploration of human imagination.
Evangelista’s virtuosic artistic choices harness the essence of art in relation to humans and the nature they thrive in, for one cannot persist, without sincere servitude to the other. In this imagined abstraction of natura, Evangelista pays quiet homage to the life that allowed him passage along a trail. For the artist, his creations are both a place of beauty and recess from chaos, equally humbling and enlightening, all at the same time.
Francis G. Evangelista is a self-taught artist hailing from Rizal. From his formative years, the artist gained a passionate interest in the arts primarily influenced by his grandfather, who was an arc designer for the traditional Santa Cruzan. Strengthening his passion, he started painting in high school and graduated from the University of Rizal System, with his works inspired by the Honorable National Artist Fernando Amorsolo. It was during this time that Francis discovered the valuable impact of adept artistry in becoming a memorable artist.
Evangelista has kept a promising artistic career, continuing to shape and hone his craft by becoming a professional art teacher and conducting exclusive lessons for selected students. He’s a member of the Artipolo Group Inc. based in Antipolo, Rizal, and has actively participated in notable art competitions, murals, and commissioned works. He’s also one of Galerie Joaquin’s rising artists.
