Don Manguilimotan’s latest exhibition showcases a spirited oeuvre that conveys themes of strength, purpose and humility, rendered in joyful misé-en-scenes of Filipino harvest. “Harvesting Hope” displays enlivened portraits of agriculture, an integral facet of rural living in the Philippines.

It can be said that harvesting is reaping one’s hard work; a rewarding product of patience and perseverance to the tests of time. Many relate it to farming or fishing, yet in the case of Don Manguilimotan, his latest collection harvests artistic ingenuity. The artist’s cubist take on the traditional theme examines his skilled talent in illustrating the enduring spirit of the people, interpreted through archetypes of a rural community, centered in their seasoned harvest.

As a whole, the exhibit celebrates the smaller communities that gravely contribute to the economy, shedding light on their indispensable role in sustaining the nation's agricultural heritage, fostering resilience amidst challenges.

Don Manguilimotan, a graduate of the University of Southeastern Philippines in Davao City, is not only an educator but also a seasoned artist. Currently teaching art at the Vedasto F. Corcuera Elementary School in Malagamot, Panacan, he has been immersed in the world of art since his high school years. Over time, he has participated in poster-making contests and various art competitions, showcasing his talent and dedication. Manguilimotan has gained recognition as a local illustrator, a national illustrator recognized by the Bureau of Learning Resource, a muralist, and a professional artist. His art often explores cubist renditions of Mindanao life, reflecting his belief that art can promote peace and solidarity through cultural connections.
